The burns or injuries that I inflict on the carpet do not lead to the destruction of the object in this artistic process, on the contrary. The supposedly meaningless, monochrome, industrially manufactured carpet is given an image through the ornamental scars that thematise the exercise of territorial violence, oppression and appropriation from a post-colonial perspective and form it into a pictorial symbol of resistance. No healing, but scars as an expression of a new cultural consciousness.
