- Fragments -
Carrara marble, original body sizes of the artist, 2015
Installation view Blain/Southern Gallery London.
Tur's series of works -Fragments- refers on
classical antique sculptures he was surrounded
during his one year residency in Rome.
Tur was inspired by the missing parts of the
bodies like nose, toe, head, etc. The reason for
those missing parts is mostly not the result of
erosion or accident but more the results of
deliberated actions during times of social changes,
economic problems and religious fanaticism.
Tur's -Fragments- are not broken parts of former
intact bodies. They are specifically made as
independend sculptures out of the own body of
Made up of original Carrara marble, the sculptures
appearance makes the fragility of the human body
and its existence in cultural history palpable.
